Presentata all'Earls Court Motor Show del 1963, la P6, nome del progetto interno della Rover, era rivolta al giovane dirigente che desiderava un mezzo di trasporto moderno, sportivo e di alta qualità. Vincitrice del premio Auto Europea dell'anno nel 1964, aveva un design avanzato che includeva sospensioni posteriori De Dion, freni a disco su tutte le ruote e cofano del bagagliaio in lega. I primi motori a quattro cilindri rimasero convenzionali fino all'introduzione del favoloso V8 da 3528 cc derivato da Buick che si unì al gruppo nel 1968, e questa è una di quelle autovetture con motore V8 offerta oggi.
Un Borg Warner 35 automatico era l'unica trasmissione fino all'aggiunta nel 1971 del modello 3500 S manuale a quattro velocità, dotato di una versione modificata del cambio utilizzato nella 2000/2200.
La lettera "S" non denotava "Sport", fu scelta perché rappresentava qualcosa di specifico su quelle auto: "Synchromesh". Tuttavia, è importante notare che la 3500 S era notevolmente più veloce della versione automatica di questa vettura con un tempo di accelerazione da 0 a 60 mph di 9 secondi
Offerta all'asta con documento di immatricolazione italiano, questi classici britannici versatili e sempre popolari, con l'adorabile motore V8 dal suono inconfondibile, raramente vengono messi in vendita.

Launched at the 1963 Earls Court Motor Show, the P6, Rover’s internal project name, was aimed at the young executive who wanted modern, sporting, high quality transport. Winner of the European Car of the Year Award 1964, it had an advanced design that included a De Dion tube rear suspension, disc brakes all round and an alloy bonnet and boot lid. The early four-cylinder power plants remained conventional until the introduction of the fabulous Buick derived 3528cc V8 which joined the party in 1968, and it is one of those V8 powered motor cars offered today.
A Borg Warner 35 automatic was the only transmission until the 1971 addition of a four-speed manual 3500 S model, fitted with a modified version of the gearbox used in the 2000/2200.
The letter ‘S’ did not denote ‘Sport’, it was chosen because it stood for something specific on those cars: ‘Synchromesh’. However, it is important to note that the 3500 S was noticeably quicker than the automatic version of this car with a 0-60 mph time of 9 seconds, compared with 10.1 for the automatic car.
Offered to auction with italian registration document, these versatile and ever popular British classics, with the lovely sounding V8 power unit, rarely come up for sale.
